SecureDoc Installation - SD Connex & AD Sync

SecureDoc Installation - Console & Database

PRACTICE

Installation of Management Console & SES Database

First of all we make sure, Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is installed on the server we want to install the SQL database and the management console. If it is not, we will need administrative rights, because it is delivered by setup. After all we need the right to install databases, delete or upgrade them on the SQL server during setup (server role = SA)

In this sample installation we are using:
• Windows 2003 Server standard edition
• MS SQL 2000 Server

A complete installation would install all components of one single machine. This might not always be eligible because of several reasons. Sometimes it could be necessary, that the database server isn’t visible to all users, whole SD Connex must be (depending on network architecture) or that there are multiple SD Connex servers in a corporate environment, accessing one central database.

We choose custom and installing only the Management Console and the database.

We find that 172 MB disk space is needed on the SQL server. Additional to this of course is the database, depending on the number of users. We confirm one more time and let setup perform the installation. -> Finish

Now we have to create a Keyfile to access the encrypted database, and of course the database itself.

… and we need am access account, which will be used by the management console to log on to the SQL server. In our sample installation we are using the domain admin, we are also logged on currently, but this is for convenience reasons only. It can be any Windows or SQL account with the necessary user rights to „Create Database“ and „Add new login user“. We choose „Use
Windows Authentication“

Finally we add the privilege to add administrators and exit the installation with „save“

A short glance on the SQL server approves, that the installation was successfully
