Test your smart card reader |
| |
We have made a java-applet, which is allowing you to test the readerperformance with your Smart Cards on your on computer.
A precondition for the applet is the java runtime version 5. Please consider, that some firewall programs can prevent the loading of Java-Applets. (e.g. Norton Internet Security 2006)
Of course, the performance of the reader depends on the tested card, because the card is telling the card reader the supported communication parameters after reset in the ATR (Answer To Reset). Then its the readers task to change to communication parameter and resulting baudrate which the card (and the reader) are supporting.
The test consists of 4 parts, the card reset and the transfer of 3 commands of different length (7, 32 and 256 Byte long), the reached recurrences within 2 seconds are counted.
As performance indicator was designed by us as weighted sum of the partial results, that it is a good indicator for performance for usual card transactions. The smaller the numbers, the faster is the reader. Furthermore, the computerperformance influences the output as well as the number of installed pc/sc driver on the computer (interesting)
