The Gemalto Smart Guardian (SG) is a revolutionary USB Security Stick (Personal Portable Security Device - PPSD), which secures the stored data on its flash memory via encryption and access via Passphrase. The Smart Guardian doesn't need any driver installation or addidiontal software installation (zero-footprint) and can be used therefore almost everywhere (Windows, Intel Macs 10.4, 10.5)!
Now you are able to keep your USB-Flash-Stick on the keyring without disclosing your identity and address via your stored data on the USB-Stick. (and disclosing the location of the locks to the keys on the keyring).
Smart Guardian - Simple and Secure
Smart Guardian is using proven smart card technology and offers the best possible protection, because all sensitive data, functions and keys are stored, used and managed securely in the secured area on the smart card.
Smart Guardian - Encryption for everyone
You don't have to change your habits, you can use it like every other Flash memory stick so you can't use it wrong. If you want to store certain data securely, just open the secured area via PIN-entry and save it there, encryption is transparent to you.

protection of data by encryption with AES 256 |
protection via encryption on the smart guardian stick (not on the host computer) |
protection of encrypted data via access control with PIN/Passphrase |
PIN-protection via integrated smart card (proven security technology) |
application which manages the PIN-entry is stored on the read only partition (tamper resistant) |
protection via physical factor (casing made of steel) - waterproof and tamper resistant. |
possibility to define a public partition, for use of the SG like a standard unencrypted Flash Stick. |
possibility of self-management (for pin-unblock,,..) or use of the free Online Token Lifecycle Management by Gemalto. |
More functions of SG in organisations: |
One Time Passwords (OTP) with the .NET for Protiva Strong Authentication Server. |
use of X.509 certificates on the smart card via PKCS#11 interface for authentication in applications like VPN, SSL-Client-Auth, or digital signature,... |
integrates in End-Point Port Control Solutions. (USB-Port Control Solutions) |
Central management for enterprises available: |
for Deployment, Provisioning, Recovery, Re-Issuance, Reporting, Auditing |
Management of portable apps, which will be stored on the read-only partition. |
access and update via web technologies - perfect for Road Warriors. |
Device Management - the administration of the stick can be done via Self Management, or more comfortable via Gemalto Token Lifecycle Manager. It is possible for enterprise to licence an inhouse solution, which provides more features, like the administration of portable apps on the read-only partition, on which you can find the documentation and the pin-entry application.
