The SCM SCR 243 is the first ExpressCard/54 Smart Card Reader with firmware upgrade possibility. For connecting the chipset on the notebook USB 2.0 is used ( www.expresscard.org ). The use of the fast PCI-Express Bus is not necessary, because the communication to the smart card is much slower (more about this fact on our Readertest pages )
