The Gemalto Classic Client (GemSAFE Libraries) are a PKI and smart card based cryptography-solution, which allows on client-side to use full possiblities of a PKI with smart cards (authentication, encryption, digital signature).

The Gemalto Classic Client contains the newest Gemalto CSP which supports the current PKI Card from Gemalto, the Classic Client TPC IM and TPC IS v2 and v1 (v1 = GemSafeXpresso 32k) card, and let it integrate in your system. You can enroll a certificate of your PKI onto the smart card and use all PKI-application, Smart Card Logon, Secure Mail, PDF-Signing, SSL-Clientauthentication, VPN-Authentication, 802.11i with smart card authentication immediately. Also a PKCS#11 module for use of other applications like Netscape, PGP etc. are possible

For using Gemalto Classic Client (GemSAFE Libraries) you need a PC/SC Smart Card Reader and a GemSAFE Smart Card, like the Gemalto Classic TPC IS (GemSafeXpresso 32 k) or Classic TPC IS v2

Supported Smart Card Reader

For use of Gemalto Classic Client (GemSAFE Libraries) with a GemSAFE PKI card, you need some Smart Card Reader with installed PC/SC-driver.

Gemplus is testing and recommending its own Smart Card Reader of course.
