The Cyberflex Java-cards from Gemalto is part of the former Axalto series. You may put your own Java applets on to the card via the Global Platform (developer keys) . Via the Access Client Software, you are able to load the PKI applet from Gemalto onto the card.
e-gate means, that this is an USB-Smart Card. It can be used with a simple USB card connector and e-gate drivers on the system, a full-featured smart card reader is not necessary.

For use of this card with certificate-based Windows applications like Logon, VPN, S/MIME, SSL-Clientauth etc. you need a CSP resp. PKCS#11 middleware for the cyberflex card. These interfaces and other card tools are contained in the Access Client Software from Gemalto.
