There are two different operation modes at GemClub Memo Cards, the ISSUER and the USER Mode.

Developements and Prototyping are only possible in the ISSUER Mode. In USER Mode the Access is restricted. Some data can't be changed and/or accessed anymore.

The cards on Cryptoshop.com are at Issuer Mode and have no further personalisation.

GemClub Memo has various different memory areas, which are protected by different PINs. They can be selfdetermined through access conditions.

GemClub Memo is using the asynchronous T=0 protocol compliant to ISO 7816 /3. The 3 commands Read, Update, Verify Code can be used.

Transfer rate is fixed at 9600 baud, and is working with 3 and 5 volt.

Manufacturer Area	"Customer Information", which is loaded by Gemplus on production "sample cards" in Issuer Mode have: FFh FFh FFh AAh
Issuer Area	Only writeable at Issuer Mode, inidicates, if the card is at ISSUER Mode or at USER Mode
Access Conditions Area	defines access conditions for CTC, Balances, User Areas
Card Secret Code 0	card-PIN, which is protecting the Access Conditions and Protected Areas
CSC 0 Ratification Counter	Counter for wrong PIN entries
CTC 1 CTC 1 Backup	Card Transaction Counter, which is counting the updates of the balances.
Balance 1 Balance 1 Backup	balance field, there can be hold "bonus data" for example
User Area 1	for storing more application data
CTC 2 CTC 2 Backup	Card Transaction Counter, which is counting the updates of the balances.
Balance 2 Balance 2 Backup	balance field, there can be hold "bonus data" for example
User Area 2	for storing more application data
Card Secret Code 1	PIN, which protects the according CTC, Balance and User Areas.
CSC 1 Ratification Counter	counter for wrong PIN entries
Card Secret Code 2	PIN, which protects the according CTC, Balance and User Areas.
CSC 2 Ratification Counter	counter for wrong PIN entries
Protected Area	always readable, but only with CSC 0 writeable.
