Contactless chip cards

Contactless chip cards differ in their power- and data interface from contact cards. In former times contactless cards were only memory chip cards, but nowadays you can also find processor chip cards as Dual-Interface chip cards.

The contactless memory chip cards have a fixed logical structure, there is faster success for a developer, but without (asymmetric) cryptographic functions, beyond a pure communication encryption between reader and chip. They are not suitable for applications with higher security requirements.
