biometric verification systems

The biometric authentication systems on the market varying in the location of storing the reference data (biometric template), eg. on server, reader or card, where the presented biometric data is processed and where the matching of the processed data against the template is done.

Match on Server/Computer

The biometric template is stored on an authentication server after entrollment, (appliance or personal computer), mostly the matching will also happen there. this system of course doesn't need a smart card.

Match on Reader

The reference data is encrypted in the biometric module. The reader is checking if the applied finger is known respektively the owner is authorised. Therefore the biometric can replace the pin entry and there is no need for change of smart card or application.

Template on Card

The reference data is stored on a smart card and are read by the reader, where the comparison will be done.

Match on Card

The reference data of the presented finger will be sent to the smart card. The comparison algorithm is implemented in the smart card as all biometric data is also stored there. All authentication is done on the smart card.
